Tag/Day 0.9 Pre-Cruise vor der/before ZAANDAM in Singapur/Singapore

Wir gehen weiter zum Raffles. Dass ein Hinweis in der U-Bahn ist, wundert mich allerdings. Können die sich keine besseren Gäste leisten, die mit Rolly-Royce anreisen?



We continued for the Raffles. I was surprised to find some information in the Subway. Could not the hotel afford guests anymore who are travelling with their Rolly-Royce?

Only crossing the street and we arrived.



Nur noch diese Straße überqueren und dann sind wir da.

Im Hintergrund das neue Geschäftsviertel.

Finally we made it.



Endlich da.

Aber wir dürfe nicht durch das Hotel laufen. Sondern müssen außen rum laufen.



But we were not allowed to walk through the hotel but need to walk outside.











Ich nutze die Gelegenheit, wenn ich hier schon nicht schlafe, zumindest die Toilette aufzusuchen.



I used the occasion to see the toilet if cannot afford to sleep here.

But paper towels only.



Aber es gibt hier nur Papierhandtücher.

Irgendwo wurde oben ist die Bar aber Schilder sind Mangelware.



Somewhere upstairs is the bar but there were not so many signs.

In an elevator cabin which was for users of the garage we finally found a sign.



In einem Fahrstuhl, der für die Nutzer der Garage ist, findet sich endlich ein Hinweis.

Das sollte man sich mal für die Teestunde merken, wenn es nicht so heiß und schwül ist, und wenn unsere Bank eine neue Hypothek auf unser Haus bewilligt hat.



This you should remember for the tea-time if it is not so hot and humid and if our bank approved a new mortgage on our house.

"I buy an A"... if the Raffles Hotel cannot afford it.



"Ich kaufe ein A"... wenn es das Raffles Hotel es sich nicht leisten kann.

Endlich da. Dabei hätten wir in der Cocktail Stunde das umsonst trinken können.



Finally arrived. But we could have it for free during the cocktail hour.

For those who knew already everything.



Für die Leute, die sonst schon alles kennen.

... and nobody came to clean... and this should be a 5*-establishment? It was like Cunard: great Marketing...



und keiner kommt zu sauber machen... Und das soll ein 5*-Haus sein. Wahrscheinlich so ähnlich wie bei Cunard: geschicktes Marketing...

Und das soll ein Singapore Sling sein. Sieht sehr trocken aus...

Der Original Singapore-Sling am Ort, an dem er erfunden wurde in der Long Bar im Raffles Hotel... für schlappe 26 SGD...

So they tried to get the people coming and many of them we saw the next day on the ship.



Damit lockt man die Touris doch rein und viele sehen wir am nächsten Tag auf dem Schiff wieder.

Da keiner mehr Lust zu laufen, nutzen wir zwei Trikschas, die vor der Bar stehen.



As none was willing to walk we used the tow trikshas which were waiting in front of the bar.

We should have taken the taxi next to... At least we should have asked for the price.



Wir hätten das Taxi daneben sollen... Zumindest hätten wir vorher nach dem Preis fragen sollen.

So sehen wir Guenther und BJ abfahren.



So we saw Guenther and BJ leaving.

And we let him also getting us back to the hotel.



Und wir lassen uns auch ins Hotel fahren.

Unser Fahrer macht jedoch einen Riesenumweg: nun weiss ich aber, wo ich nachts etwas zu essen bekomme. Und die 70 SGD setzen sich zum größten Teil aus seinen Leistungen beim Fotografieren zusammen. Die Trikscha selbst war wohl sehr billig... Schlitzohr!



Our driver made a big detour but now I know were I can get food at night. Most of the 70 SGD we payed was for his photographer's performance. The Triksha-ride itself was very cheap... What a damned boy...
