Tag/Day 9.2 auf der/on ZAANDAM in Nha Trang, Vietnam (=> Seetag/Day at Sea)

Das Wetter lässt eine Einfahrt in Nha Trang nicht zu. So entschließt sich Kapitän Smits, dass wir zunächst vor Nha Trang weiter kreuzen, da wir einen langen Aufenthalt haben und ggfls. später reinfahren können.



The weather condidition did not allow to enter Nha Trang. So Captain Smits decided to cruise in the Nha Trang area as we had a long stay there and might sail in later the day.

The weather did not become better so that the Captain announced at noon that he would head now for Sanya slowly and the port would be skipped for sure.



Das Wetter bessert sich jedoch nicht, so dass um 12.00 Uhr der Kapitän ankündigt langsam weiter Richtung  Sanya weiterzufahren und dass der Halt endgültig entfällt.

Der Touranbieter in Nha Trang hatte angeboten, dass wir jederzeit uns wieder melden könnten, falls sich die Situation ändert. Nach Douglas (Isle of Man), St. Peter-Port (Guernsey), Nizza ist das nun der 4. Hafen, der wetterbedingt während aller meiner bisherigen Kreuzfahrten ausgefallen ist. Nun für mich war es harmlos.



The tour operator in Nha Trang offered to be stand by just in case the situation would change. After Douglas (Isle of Man), St. Peter-Port (Guernsey), Nizza it was not my 4th port that was cancelled due to weather condition on all my cruises. But I found it quite harmless.

A blessing in disguise: I was thinking loud to use the train from Saigon to Nha Trang and to re-enter the ship there. Our agent offered us to arrange tickets and hotels but also said that this route should be very boring and you cannot see anything from the landscape after 18.00 hrs. Furthermore I might not be interested to find a taxi in a strange city at midnight to get my parents and us to the hotel. And if I really want to tour Vietnam by train I should book Danang - Hanoi as this would be the most attractive route. They did not try to sell us a tour in Halong Bay we did not not want either. And also they did not asked anymore when we said they could not offer us the right tour. The reviews in Tripadvisor were not bad either. So we still have a good impression as our agent in Hanoi gave us a good quality of consultation.



Im Übrigen hatten wir Glück im Unglück. Eigentlich hatte ich mit dem Gedanken gespielt mit Bahn von Saigon nach Nha Trang zu fahren und hier wieder zuzsteigen. Unser Agent hatte uns angeboten die Fahrkarten und Hotelzimmer zu besorgen, aber auch erklärt, dass diese Strecke stinklangweilig sei und man ab 18.00 Uhr kaum noch etwas von der Landschaft sehe und ich bestimmt auch keine Lust hätte um Mitternacht mit Eltern ein Taxi zum Hotel zu finden. Und wenn ich unbedingt Bahn in Vietnam fahren will, soll ich doch lieber Danang - Hanoi buchen. Das wäre die schönste Bahnstrecke in Vietnam. Sie hatten uns auch nicht versucht eine Tour in Halong Bay uns anzubieten, die wir nicht wollten und haben auch nicht mehr nachgehakt, als wir erklärten, dass ihre Touren nicht die richtigen für uns sind. Die Bewertungen bei tripadvisor waren auch nicht schlecht. Deswegen habe ich nach wie vor ein gutes Gefühl bei dem Agenten in Hanoi, weil die Beratungsqualität echt gut war.

After it was for sure that we should not call Nha Trang I explained the management of the restaurant that I should normally have my birthday party ashore and was looking for an alternative on board. They promised me immediately to have a table for us for lunch and for dinner in Pinnacle Grill.



Nach dem fest stand, dass wir Nha Trang nicht anlaufen, hatte ich dem Restaurant Management erlärt, das ich eigentlich an Land meine Geburtsfeiern geplant hatte und eine Alternative an Bord suche. Sowohl für das Mittagessen als auch für das Abendessen hat man mir sofort einen Tisch zugesichert.

Die Kabine, die bislang getrocknet wurde, macht einen frisch-renovierten Eindruck.

No idea what was wrong: my parents could call us. We could not call anyone and the front desk could not reach us either. Strange what happened.



Warum auch immer: meine Eltern erreichen uns. Wir erreichen niemanden und die Rezeption erreicht uns auch nicht. Merkwürdige Anlage.

Es gibt ein aktualisiertes Tagesprogramm. Eigentlich war vorgesehen, dass heute Abend eine vietnamesische Tanzgruppe an Bord kommt und auftritt. Aber das geht wohl jetzt nicht mehr.

We went to Pinnacle Grill for lunch: my father and Bruno came in partner look.



Es geht zum Mittagessen in den Pinnacle Grill: mein Vater und Bruno tauchen im Partner Look auf.

Die Zuzahlung beträgt mittags bloß 10,00 USD... aber nach der Vorspeise wäre dieses Budget schon aufgebraucht.



The cover charge was only 10.00 USD... but after the starter the budget was fully eaten up.

Kein einfacher Hamburger, sondern aus frisch durchgedrehtes Tartar!!!



To keep my chance alive to become 4* Mariner Member with Holland America they got me the 2nd part of my Chinese must have for a Happy Birthday: they prepared some spaghettis for me. They excused that they had no longer noodles on board. My father was as exited as I was myself because of the great service they provided.



Damit ich doch noch 4* Mariner bei Holland America werden kann, haben sie den 2. Teil der chinesischen Pflichtteile gebracht, die man für einen guten Geburtstag braucht und für mich ein paar Spaghettis gekocht. Längere Nudeln hätten sie leider nicht an Bord. Mein Vater ist von dem tollen Service genauso begeistert wie ich selbst auch.







It was no wonder that it was always sold out in Pinnacle Grill for lunch.



Kein Wunder, dass mittags der Pinnacle Grill immer ausgebucht ist.

Unser Running Gag geht weiter... schon wieder die Aufforderung, dass wir die Einreise- und Ausreisekarten für Hongkong ausfüllen sollten. Kein Wunder: sie müssen sie nicht beim Reisepass suchen, sondern beim Passersatz, womit meine Eltern in Hongkong einreisen. Es war nicht der letzte Besuch diesbezüglich heute... Und die offizielle Erklärung, dass der Halt in Nha Trang ausfällt, wir ein paar Dollar für die Hafengebühren auf das Bordkonto bekommen und es ein Glas Sekt heute Abend beim Abendessen gibt.



Our running gag continued... again the request to show up with the Hong Kong arrival- and departure record card. No wonder: they must not check my parents' passports but with their passport substitutes which they need to enter Hong Kong. It was not my last visit with the front desk for this subject... And the official statement that our stop in Nha Trang was cancelled, that we should get few dollars back on our onboard account for the port taxes and that we should get a glass of champagne with our dinner.

And again a message regarding the nationality of my parents... soon they should have a lot of trouble...



Und dann nochmals eine Nachricht wegen der Staatsangehörigkeit meiner Eltern... Gleich gibt es Ärger...

Auf dem Pooldeck wurden sogar die Whirlpools gesperrt.

That meant something seriously.



Das will schon etwas heißen.

Ich versuche diese Glaskugel zu verschieben, damit mein PC besser drauf passt, aber sie ist festgeschraubt.



I tried to move the glass ball so that my PC fit better on the table but it was fixed by screws.

The agent in Hanoi sent a message. They accepted my suggestion to charge the yesterday's tour as tour by bus instead of tour by boat. As I paid the mini-bus by myself and they accept to pay all no-show charges to compensate the tour operator in Nha Trang for my today's tours we both agreed that there were no further mutual claims. I could live with the idea. By the way: subject I will go to Vietnam again I would book with them again. The tour-guide in Saigon was good as tour-guide but I missed some skills in organisation and managing problems and crisis'. So they had to pay the boat and their local bus in Saigon but I was quite sure that they will ask the local operator for compensation.



Die Agentur in Hanoi meldet sich. Sie akzeptieren meinen Vorschlag, dass der Ausflug gestern preislich als Ausflug per Minibus und nicht per Boot berechnet wird. Abzüglich des Mini-Buses, den ich selbst bezahlt habe und der Übernahme Ausfall-Entschädigung an den Tourverstalter in Nha Trang für seine Auslagen, die er bereits hatte, kommen wir überein, dass keine gegenseitigen Forderungen mehr bestehen. Damit kann ich leben. Ich würde übrigens das nächste Mal in Vietnam wieder bei dieser Agentur buchen. Und als Fremdenführer war der Fremdenführer in Saigon auch gut, nur sein Organisationstalent und Krisenmanagement wären stark verbesserungswürdig. So bleibt die Agentur auf den Kosten für das Boot und für ihren Mini-Bus sitzen, aber das werden sie sich bestimmt vom örtlichen Anbieter in Saigon zurückholen.

Seetage bedeutet auch immer Ramsch-Verkauf...

Das stand nicht zu Verkauf. Das war das Geschenk der Werft Ficantieri für das Schiff. Ich hielt es immer für ein Dekoelement vom Juwelier, um z. B. Ketten auszustellen.



That was not for sale. It was the gift of the shipyard Fincantieri for the ship. I thought it was some decoration device from the juwelery store to display necklaces etc.
