Seetag/Day at Sea 13.1 auf der/on ZAANDAM

Unser letzter Seetag. Und da sind auch schon die Ausschiffungsunterlagen.



Our last day at sea. And there were already our debarkation files.

That is always stylish with Holland America. We prepared everything at home by printing labels with all information which we need to put on the luggage tags.



Das hat bei Holland America immer Stil. Wir bereiten uns immer zu Hause vor, in dem wir Aufkleber mit allen Informationen erstellen, die wir dann nur noch auf die Gepäckanhänger aufkleben müssen.

Unsere Schlüsselkarten gehen mal wieder nicht... Auch eine Sache für das Trockendock. Mittlerweile wissen die an der Rezeption, dass das Telefon nicht funktioniert, wir genau am Heck wohnen und dass ich hysterisch werden kann... Daher bietet mir Laurence an, dass ich einfach sagen soll, wo ich im Moment mich aufhalte und bringt mir die Karten erst vorbei, als er selbst geprüft hat, dass sie endlich funktionieren.



Our key cards did not work again... Also something for the dry dock. Meanwhile they knew at the reception that our phone did not work, we stayed at the aft and I could become hysterical occasionally... So Laurence offered me to tell him where I would be for the next time and would test the cards if they would work before he would deliver them to me.

As Bruno did not feel so good and was still in the cabin he noticed that three times someone try to open the door. As Laurence knew that Bruno was inside he only tried it outside. But Bruno asked why he always need to walk and why the receptionists walked for me: Very simple. They read the blog and noticed how much Bruno loves to walk and so they wanted to do him a favor. They read the blog and noticed that I let Bruno walk for me but as he did not feel so well they wanted to let him recover and walked for me. That what you call a first-class-customer service. But what was CRUISE PLANET which was printed on our card. Later at home we find out that it is an Australian tour operator.



Da es Bruno nicht so gut ging und er in der Kabine lag, meinte Bruno, dass drei Mal jemand versucht hätte, hereinzukommen. Da Laurence wusste, dass Bruno drin liegt, hat er nur außen probiert. Allerdings hat Bruno sich dann bei mir beschwert, warum er immer laufen musste, und bei mir die Rezeptionisten laufen: Ganz einfach. Sie haben in den Blogs gelesen, wie gerne Bruno läuft, und wollten ihm daher eine Freude machen, in dem sie ihn laufen lassen. Sie haben im Blog gelesen, dass ich Bruno immer laufen lasse und da sie ja wussten, dass es ihm nicht so gut geht, wollten sie ihn schonen und sind daher für mich gelaufen. Das nennt man erstklassigen Kundendienst. Aber was bitte ist CRUISE PLANET, das jetzt auf unserer Karte aufgedruckt ist. Zu Hause erfahren wir, dass es sich um ein australisches Reiseunternehmen handelt.

Morgen ist ein ganzer Tag an Land mit Übernacht-Aufenthalt. Wer will schon extra von 16.30 Uhr bis 18.00 Uhr an Bord kommen, bloß um wieder die Pässe abzuholen. Und da ich die Absicht habe morgen nach Macao zu fahren, brauche ich eh meinen Pass schon früher.



The next day we should have a full day ashore incl. overnight-stay. Who wanted to be on board from 16.30 hrs to 18.00 hrs just to collect the passports. But anyhow I need my passport much more earlier as I planned to go to Macao.

Unser letztes Tier.

Wir übergeben den Crew-Mitgliedern, die uns die Tische zuweisen, auch etwas Süßes ab. Die meisten waren doch sehr nett und freundlich.



We handed over some sweets to the crew members who allocated the tables.Most of them were very nice and friendly.

This was Tata: every morning a smile and the question what kind of Danish we would like. Does ZAANDAM also arrange home deliveries for breakfast?



Das ist Tata: jeden Morgen ein Lächeln und die Frage, ob wir ein Frühstücksteilchen möchten. Liefert eigentlich die ZAANDAM auch morgens zu Hause aus?



2/3 of the waiters knew that Bruno normally did not want ice water for breakfast. But today a maître came by and saw the empty glass with Bruno. But today he wanted to have some water. So the waiters got somehow a request from the maître regarding Bruno's missing water... During a cruise it is always more important to have a good relation to the crew but with Bruno... At home Bruno is preparing the breakfast so that is why there he is more important... He need to atone and took over the penitent position. One waiter who came by started to laugh out loud.



2/3 der Kellner wussten, dass Bruno eigentlich nie Eiswasser zum Frühstück will. Ausgerechnet heute kommt ein Maître vorbei und Brunos leeres Glas sieht. Und ausgerechnet heute will er ein Glas Wasser, worauf hin unsere Kellner vom Maître einen Einlauf bekommen, dass Bruno kein Wasser hat... Während einer Kreuzfahrt ist es wichtiger sich mit der Crew zustellen als mit Bruno... Zu Hause macht Bruno das Frühstück, da ist er natürlich wichtiger... Er musste daher "büßen" und nimmt daher seine Büßerhaltung ein. Ein Kellner, der zufällig vorbeikommt, lacht sich darüber kaputt.

Sind das eigentlich meine bevorzugten Marken?

Bruno did not deserve his kiwi this morning.



Seine Kiwis hat er heute morgen nicht verdient.

Heute morgen sehen wir Ester die große Treppe im Rotterdam Hauptrestaurant runterlaufen. Wir wundern uns, weil oben ja kein Frühstück serviert wird. Sie klärt uns auf, dass der King's Room den Suiten-Gästen zur Verfügung steht, weil die Neptune Lounge zu klein für alle Gäste sind. Es geht allerdings nur um die intime Atmosphäre: das Essen soll oben wie unten gleich sein.



This morning we saw Ester getting down the big stairway in the Rotterdam MDR. We were surprised as we thought that they did not serve any breakfast upstairs. She explained that the King's Room was available for the Suite-guests because the Neptune Lounge would be too small for all guests. But the offer was only limited to a nicer atmosphere. The food above should be same like here downstairs.



Mein Bausatz kommt.



My construction kit arrived.

That day my congee was nicely decorated.



Heute kommt mein Congee auch richtig schön garniert.

Und nach dem ich alles zurecht geschnippelt habe, geht alles ins Congee. So könnte ich jeden Morgen frühstücken.



After I diced everything I put it into the Congee. So that would my favorite breakfast every morning.

Bams was our waiter the day before. But as Bruno mostly closed his eyes on pictures we had to repeat the shot.



Bams (das steht nicht für Bild am Sonntag...) war gestern unser Kellner. Da Bruno aber wie in meisten Fällen die Augen zu hatte, mussten wir das Bild wiederholen.

Da morgens und mittags die Teams immer neu gemischt werden, hatten wir Boubon als Hauptkellner und erstmalig Imran. Mit 98% der Kellner haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die, die wir zum Mond schießen wollten, hätten wir an einer Hand abzählen können.



As for breakfast and lunch the teams were mixed every day we had Boubon already as main waiter and first time Imran. We felt very comfortable with 98% of the waiters. Few of them we could kick their sorry butt to the next county but only a handful.
