Seetag/Day at Sea 14 auf der/on OOSTERDAM

Der letzte Seetag: er darf ruhig trauriger aussehen. Schließlich geht doch eine schöne Reise zu Ende.

Noch einmal lecker Congee im Lido Market essen und meine letzte Pittahaya in der Kabine aufessen. Es wäre ja doch zu Schade. Nächstes Mal Kirschen und Durian...

Und immer läuft das Internet immer noch nicht stabil, wie am Anfang der Reise. Immerhin bekommen wir 3/14 Tagen erstattet: für die Tage mit Komplettausfall.







Beim Frühstück probieren wir noch das Frühstücksgebäck durch. Es lacht uns an!

Photo Manager Ian approached the management of the photo studio to find an acceptable solution for us. We are happy about that and can live with the proposal.

One last round, thanks again to Erick and Yoyo for bringing the Friends of Dorothy group together. Nothing remains of the Lincoln Center Stage. That's too bad. The scales are set up to weigh the luggage: there used to be one on each deck. But it's also fun to watch how some don't consider their bags but themselves and quickly jump off the scales in shock.



Noch eine letzte Runde: bei Erick und Yoyo bedanke ich mich nochmals für die Zusammenführung der Friends-of-Dorothy-Gruppe. Vom Lincoln Center Stage ist nichts mehr übrig. Das ist sehr schade. Die Waage, um das Gepäck vorzuwiegen ist aufgestellt: früher gab es auf jedem Deck eine. Es macht aber auch Spaß zu beobachten, wie einige nicht das Gepäck wiegen, sondern sich selbst und erschrocken schnell wieder von der Waage springen.

Ein letzer Cappuccino Frappé für mich und später im Explorations Café nochmals der Abschied von den anderen Friends of Dorothy - Es waren nun keine Lesben, Transmenschen usw. dabei, also muss ich auch nicht politisch korrekt sein! Ausgerechnet heute passiert etwas, was vielleicht seit 2014 einmal im Jahr passiert: ich "dumpe": d.h. eine Reaktion auf meine Magen-Bypass-OP. Ich kann leider nicht mehr etwas essen oder trinken, obwohl ich hungrig und durstig bin.



A last cappuccino frappé for me and later in the Explorations Café again the farewell to the other Friends of Dorothy - there were no lesbians, trans people, etc., so I don't have to be politically correct either! Today, of all days, something happened that has happened maybe once a year since 2014: I am "dumping,": i.e., a reaction to my gastric bypass surgery. Unfortunately, I am hungry and thirsty and can no longer eat or drink anything.

Ask the Captain. Zunächst stellt Kapitän Kevin sich selbst und Stationen seines Lebens vor. Auch stellt er kurz seine Lebenspartnerin und ihren gemeinsamen Hund vor. Dann werden die Fragen im Publikum beantwortet: zwei Mal gibt es Applaus: einmal bei der Frage eines Mitreisenden, der kritisiert, dass es kein klassisches Musikangebot gab und bei meiner Frage nach dem Internet, in dem der Kapitän bestätigt, dass eine Mindestbandbreite für den operativen Schiffsbetrieb behalten wird. Der Kapitän erklärt kurz, was passiert ist und dass auch er betroffen ist. Sonst kommen die üblichen Fragen, die wir von anderen vergleichbaren Veranstaltungen kennen.

Es geht zum Mittagessen.









Ich hatte bislang die Schiffsbrücke eines Schiffes der Konkurrenz als Titelbild auf Facebook. Ich wollte aber gerne ein Bild der Brücke eines HAL-Schiffes haben. Den Umstand, dass ich nicht mehr das Bild der Konkurrenz verwenden wollte, war Argument genug, um meine Frage positiv zu beantworten. Ich durfte daher ein paar Bilder machen und habe danach mein Titelbild gewechselt. Erstaunt war ich über die grüne Industriefarbe, damit man ruhiger wird und sich besser konzentrieren kann.



I used to have the bridge of a competitor's ship as the cover photo on Facebook. But I wanted to have a picture of the bridge of a HAL ship. The fact that I no longer wanted to use the competitor's image was argument enough to answer my question in the affirmative. So I was allowed to take a few pictures and then changed my cover picture. I was amazed at the green industrial color so that you become calmer and can concentrate better.

Sehr schade: so einen Abschied von der Crew wie damals auf der ZAANDAM 2012, gibt es leider heute auch nicht.



















The last dinner on board. Unfortunately, not for me. Unfortunately, there are no crackers on board. Not even for the cheese platter. Vanja finds something similar that is dry. It would have been the evening of the chefs from the Culinary Council again. My suffering may be psychosomatic because saying goodbye is very difficult for me.



Das letzte Abendessen an Bord. Leider nicht für mich. Es gibt leider keien Cracker an Bord. Auch nicht für die Käseplatte. Vanja findet etwas ähnliches, was trocken ist. Es wäre wieder der Abend der Köche aus dem Culinary Council gewesen. Vielleicht ist ja mein Leiden psychosomatisch, weil mir der Abschied sehr schwer fällt.

Das besondere und schöne Essensangebot am letzten Abend gab es auf der VEENDAM 2019 auch. Nur haben sich hier das Restaurant und Galley-Team im Rahmen einer Parade von uns verabschiedet. Schade: hier leider nicht.

Mein Lieblingsabschiedsessen gab es damals auf der EURODAM 2014: Das internationale Dinner, bei dem die Kellner wie Köche angezogen waren. Also nicht das Beste der Köche, sondern das Beste der einzelnen Nationen.



My favorite farewell dinner was on EURODAM 2014: the international dinner, where the waitpersons were dressed like chefs — not the best of the cooks, but the best of the individual nations.
