Ich habe heute Morgen keine Lust nach South Pointe rauszufahren. Also beobachte ich die Einfahrt und das Umdrehen der OASIS OF THE SEAS von meinem Hotelfenster aus.



I don't feel like driving out to South Pointe this morning. So I watch the arrival and the turning of OASIS OF THE SEAS from my hotel window.

After that, NORWEGIAN ENCORE comes.



Danach kommt die NORWEGIAN ENCORE.

Es folgt die MSC SEASCAPE. Ich habe sie zuletzt vor zwei Jahren gesehen, als sie noch in Montfalcone in der Werft war. Wir hatten damals eine Heckbalkonkabine auf der MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 und hatten direkten Blick auf die MSC SEASCAPE.



MSC SEASCAPE follows. I last saw her two years ago when she was still in the shipyard in Montfalcone. At that time, we had a rear balcony cabin on MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 and had a direct view of MSC SEASCAPE.

EXPLORER OF THE SEAS comes in and makes memories... we canceled the trip in the fall after QUEEN ELIZABETH was offered for less money, and we had a good time on QUEEN VICTORIA 2022. So RCI has to wait again.



Die EXPLORER OF THE SEAS kommt rein und bringt sich in Erinnerung... wir haben die Reise im Herbst storniert, nach dem QUEEN ELIZABETH für weniger Geld angeboten wurde und wir eine gute Zeit auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 hatten. Also muss RCI nochmals warten.

Danach folgt die SCARLET LADY.

And SEABOURN OVATION comes in last. She is "mean" to me and turns in the middle of the canal instead of in front of my hotel window.



Und als letzte kommt noch die SEABOURN OVATION rein. Sie ist "gemein" zu mir und wendet mitten im Kanal statt vor meinem Hotelfenster.

Sehr schön: der Sonnenaufgang über den Hafen und Miami Beach.



Very nice: the sunrise over the harbor and Miami Beach.

We take a taxi to drive along the ships. The driver is a convinced Christian and is happy that we wish him a happy Easter. He also speaks perfect English - so it was fitting that we took a taxi and not Lyft again. Lyft drivers don't have to know English; all you have to do is drive to the agreed destination. The fact that he could speak English was not only an advantage: we had to listen to a lecture about Easter. On the other hand, we now know where MSC is building the new terminal in Miami and where we can turn in the future without going through to Miami Beach: at the Fisher Island ferry and without being checked if you drive as he does.



Wir nehmen ein Taxi um entlang der Schiffe zu fahren. Der Fahrer ist ein überzeugter Christ und freut sich darüber, dass wir ihm frohe Ostern wünschen. Er spricht auch sehr gut Englisch - deswegen war das schon richtig, dass wir ein Taxi und nicht schon wieder Lyft genommen haben. Die Fahrer von Lyft müssen ja kein Englisch können. Sie müssen ja nur zu dem vereinbarten Ziel fahren. Dass er Englisch kann hatte allerdings nicht nur Vorteile: Wir müssen daher uns einen Vortrag über das Osterfest anhören. Andererseits wissen wir jetzt, wo MSC das neue Terminal in Miami baut und wo wir in Zukunft wenden können, ohne bis Miami Beach durchzufahren: an der Fähre nach Fisher Island und ohne, dass man kontrolliert wird, wenn man so fährt, wie er.

Die Innenstadt Miamis ist durch den Miami-Dade Metromover erschlossen. Derzeit (2023) dürfen die Bahnen kostenlos benutzt werden. Hierüber erfolgt die Feinverteilung von der Miami-Dade Metrorail (U-Bahn - u.a. auch zum Flughafen) und von den Zügen der Brightline (auch nach Fort Lauderdale). Vor unserem Hotel ist die Station Bayfront Park.



The Miami-Dade Metromover serves Downtown Miami. Currently (2023), the trains can be used free of charge. This is used for fine distribution from the Miami-Dade Metrorail (subway - including to the airport) and from the Brightline trains (also to Fort Lauderdale). In front of our hotel is the Bayfront Park station.







Ich wollte kein Schicki-Micki-Essen wie am ersten Abend oder für viel Geld ein Kettenrestaurant für nichts. Deswegen suche ich im Tripadvisor und finde El Sitio Coffee Bar. Eigentlich auch zu Fuß erreichbar, aber ich wollte den Metromover ausprobieren. Das ist ein südamerikanisches Restaurant, in dem sehr viele "Einheimische" auch aus südamerikanischen Ländern saßen. Spanisch-Kenntnisse waren hier von großem Vorteil. Die Empenadas waren schon anders, als wie wir sie bisher kannten. Draußen Schlangen, die die frischgebackenen Empenadas zum Mitnehmen kaufen. Wir haben zum Glück einen Platz auf der Höhe des Bildschirms mit den Gerichten. Das macht die Auswahl nur sehr viel schwieriger. Ich war neugierig auf ein Steak "Cuban Cut". Nun weiß ich, dass es noch dünner geht, als das Minutensteak vom Walmart. Ich hätte bestimmt eine Zeitung darunter lesen können. Bruno hat sich mit seiner Auswahl die Hochachtung des Kellners gesichert: es ist wohl das Nationalessen aus Venezuela.



I wanted something other than fancy food like the first night or a high-cost chain restaurant for nothing. So I search Tripadvisor and found El Sitio Coffee Bar. Also, within walking distance, I wanted to try the Metromover. This is a South American restaurant where many "locals" from South American countries were sitting. Knowledge of Spanish was a great advantage here. The empanadas differed from how we knew them before — queues outside buying the freshly baked empanadas to take away. Luckily we have a seat at the level of the dishes screen. It just makes the choice that much harder. I was curious about a "Cuban Cut" steak. Now I know it can be even thinner than the minute steak from Walmart. I could have read a newspaper underneath. Bruno has secured the respect of the waiter with his selection: it is probably the national food of Venezuela.

We have arranged a late check-out at the Inter-Continental. A privilege to be an Ambassador Elite member. Here we also take advantage of the free night on weekends. Otherwise, we needed more money to afford the hotel.Why can't I have a late check-out on a cruise ship?



Im Inter-Continental haben wir ein spätes Check-Out vereinbart. Ein Privileg, dass ich als Ambassador Elite Mitglied habe. Hier nutzen wir auch die kostenlose Nacht am Wochenende aus. Sonst könnten wir uns das Hotel nicht leisten. Warum kann ich kein Late-Check-Out auch auf einem Kreuzfahrtschiff haben?

Das Frühstück heute Morgen im Club brachte eine Überraschung: keine Rühreier aus dem Tetrabox sondern spanische Tortillas.



Breakfast this morning at the club brought a surprise: no scrambled eggs from the Tetrabox but Spanish tortillas.

Rhiannon looked after us for three days. This is how a hotel stay is enjoyable.



Drei Tage wurden wir von Rhiannon betreut. So macht ein Hotelaufenthalt richtig Spaß.

Am Vorabend stellen wir fest, dass unser Auto sehr unruhig fährt. Irgendetwas ist am Reifen. Wir tauschen ihn bei Budget am Flughafen aus. Aber es gibt Probleme beim Austausch. So bekommen wir ein größeres Fahrzeug von Muttergesellschaft Avis als "Entschädigung" für unsere Unannehmlichkeiten.



The evening before, we find out that our car drives very restlessly. Something is wrong with the tire. We exchange it at Budget at the airport. But there are problems with the exchange. So we get a bigger vehicle from parent company Avis as "compensation" for our inconvenience.

They know that we have a one-way rental: the rental car companies in Germany do that too: out of sheer gratitude and because we are super customers, we don't get a fantastic upgrade: they don't want to take care of this accident damage and leave it to Fort Lauderdale. We didn't have to pay for the gas either, and I am not complaining because we can use the larger trunk.



Sie wussten ja, dass wir eine Einwegmiete haben: das machen die Mietwagenfirmen in Deutschland auch: aus reiner Dankbarkeit und weil wir Superkunden sind, bekommen wir kein Super-Upgrade: sie haben nur keine Lust sich um diesen Unfallschaden zu kümmern und überlassen es Fort Lauderdale. Für das Benzin mussten wir auch nichts zahlen. Ich meckere nicht, weil wir den größeren Kofferraum gut brauchen können.

Mitten in der Innenstadt wird der Verkehr unterbrochen: ein Containerzug verlässt den Hafen und kreuzt die Hauptverkehrsachse in der Innenstadt von Miami. Aber ich habe Glück: kein einziger Container von uns auf dem Zug. Der Verkehr in der Stadt "ruht".



Traffic is disrupted in the middle of downtown: a container train leaves the port and crosses the main thoroughfare in downtown Miami. But I'm lucky: not a single container from us on the train. The traffic in the city "rests".

We're moving: to the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. Luckily we have enough points in the Hilton Honors account. We last stayed here before our trip on EURODAM 2014, and they've modernized in the meantime, and it's excellent here.



Wir ziehen um: ins Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. Zum Glück haben wir genügend Punkte auf dem Hilton Honors Konto. Zuletzt haben wir hier vor unserer Fahrt auf der EURODAM 2014 übernachtet. Sie haben zwischenzeitlich modernisiert und es ist richtig toll hier.

Ich komme im richtigen Moment an: es fängt an zu regnen, aber ich kann trocken auf unserem Balkon fotografieren: und zwar die CELEBRITY BEYOND, die gerade rausfährt.

Then a good friend leaves the harbor right before my balcony: We know her from our REGAL PRINCESS 2022 trip.

Following is the ship on which we first sailed with HAL and "fell in love" with HAL. We have been on the waters with her three times: EURODAM 2008, EURODAM 2009, and EURODAM 2014.



Es folgt das Schiff, auf der wir zum ersten Mal mit HAL gefahren sind und auf der wir uns in HAL "verliebt" haben. Mit ihr waren wir schon drei Mal unterwegs: EURODAM 2008, EURODAM 2009 und EURODAM 2014.

Last not least auch eine gute Freundin, mit der wir letzten Sommer unterwegs waren: CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022.



Last but not least, a good friend we were traveling with the previous summer: CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022.

I have a craving for dim sum. I found a restaurant named after me: Ten-Ten - in Chinese, it is identical to Tien-Tien or Tian-Tian as it would be spelled today. It was like what we experienced in Hong Kong, China, on ZAANDAM 2012 and DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016. Unfortunately, the complete menu is no longer available in the evening because some chefs have already finished work. Only those dim sum dishes that can be steamed up. I have never eaten baby pak choi so delicious. No way will a vampire attack me tonight. I could even travel to Transylvania safely. But really tasty. I take the rest with me and eat it at the hotel at night. And all this in the Sunset Strip (in Sunrise) - just unfortunately not 77, Sunset Strip.



Ich habe irgendwie Lust auf Dim Sum. Ich finde ein Restaurant, das nach mir benannt ist: Ten-Ten - ist in der chinesischen Schreibweise identisch mit Tien-Tien bzw. Tian-Tian, wie man es heute schreiben würde. Es war so, wie wir es in Hongkong auf der ZAANDAM 2012 bzw. DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016 erlebt haben. Leider gibt es abends nicht mehr die vollständige Karte, weil ein Teil der Köche schon Feierabend hat. Nur noch solche Dim Sum-Gerichte, die man aufdämpfen kann. So lecker habe ich noch nie Baby-Pak-Choi gegessen. Heute Nacht werde ich keinesfalls von einem Vampir angegriffen. Ich könnte sogar gefahrlos nach Transsylvanien reisen. Aber richtig lecker. Ich nehme den Rest mit und esse es im Hotel nachts weiter. Und das alles in der Sunset Strip (in Sunrise) - nur leider nicht 77, Sunset Strip.
