Seetag/Day at Sea 4 auf der/on KONINGSDAM

05.40 Uhr Zeit zum Aufstehen... Walk a mile. Das ist eh meine Zeit, in der aufstehe, langsam wach werde, gucke, was meine Freunde auf Facebook machen und blogge, wenn ich wieder zu Hause bin.



05.40 hrs time to wake-up... Walk a mile. It was anyhow my time when I am waking up, getting slowly awake, checking what my friends are doing on Facebook and bloggin when I am back home.

Bruno preperad him as well.

Nur bei Sigi: Still ruht der See... Aber genau das ist ja das schöne an der Kreuzfahrt: wir haben immer nur so Fixpunkte zum Essen und für die Landausflüge. Alles andere ergibt sich.



Only with Sigi: silence... but that was exactly why we love cruising: we only had fixed times for dining and for shore excursions. Everything else would just come.

I was walking as usual my rounds.



Ich laufe wie üblich meine Runden.

Ein Blick auf das Frühstücksangebot im Lido Market Place (= SB Restaurant). Es gibt sogar Congee (chinesische Reissuppe) und so toll. Der einzige Grund morgens hier kurz vorbei zu sehen. Leider gibt es keinen Entsafter hier.

In the cabin: everything was kept best: fruits, laundry. Shankar was deck housekeeping supervisor. We even had light-therapy in the bathroom. It was flittering slightly. You noticed it without standing in the dark. Might ouccur an epileptical attack with some people. Unfortunately there was nothing you can do! Wan not only with us and the electrician on board could not find the source. We still had day 4 and they wanted already us leaving the ship.



In der Kabine: alles bestens: Obst, Wäsche. Shankar ist der Deck Supervisor im Housekeeping. Wir haben sogar eine Lichttherapie im Bad. Es flackert so ganz leicht. Man nimmt es wahr, ohne im Dunkeln zu stehen. Könnte bei manchen einen epileptischen Anfall auslösen. Leider kann man da nichts machen! Ist wohl nicht nur bei uns und die Elektriker an Bord haben die Ursache noch nicht herausgefunden. Wir haben erst Tag 4 und sie wollen schon wissen, wie sie uns wieder los werden.

Bruno geht lieber zum Royal Dutch Café, weil hier der Kaffee im Barista-Stil gebrüht wird. Die Tassen... Royal Delft... die werden bestimmt viel geklaut... Lisanne und Mandy kümmern sich immer liebevoll um Brunos Wünsche.

That day I was taking a Scandinavian breakfast. With haring at an early morning. I got my personal iced tea arrangement automatically on my table. Now we ordered some cottage cheese with the fruits. Normally you will never hear a no on a Holland America ship, but they had no dragon fruit onbaord. Otherwise I would get one for sure. Dewa and Harry pampered us very much again. Service which made a lot of pleasure.



Heute frühstücke ich skandinavisch. Mit Hering am frühen Morgen. Mein persönliches Eistee-Arrangement bekomme ich immer schon automatisch hingestellt. Jetzt bestellen wir immer noch Frischkäse zum Obst. Normalerweise hört man nie ein Nein auf Holland America Schiffen, aber leider ist gar keine Pitahaya an Bord. Sonst hätte ich sie bestimmt bekommen. Dewa und Harry verwöhnen uns wieder. Service, der Spaß macht.

Es wird ein wenig unruhiger. Ich nehme mal welche mit. Ich brauche sie nicht. Aber vielleicht einer einer Mitreisenden.



It became a little uncalm. I took some with me. I did not need them. But maybe one of my fellow-cruisers.

Again re-entering the Schengen-Zone. The passports were kept ready for collection on every deck. Again perfectly organised. But why the chaos when entering UK? The British immigration might have artists like a band or singers. They could make a special arrangement: they perform in the night and during the day they do inspection of passports during the day at sea...



Wieder Einreise in die Schengen-Zone. Die Pässe werden auf jedem Deck zur Abholung bereit gelegt. Wieder perfekt organisiert. Aber warum das Chaos bei der Einreise nach Großbritannien? Die britische Grenzkontrolle hat doch bestimmt auch Künstler, wie eine Band oder Sänger. Man könnte ja so ein Arrangement treffen: die treten abends auf und tagsüber kontrollieren sie die Pässe am Seetag...

Ganz große klasse: es gibt wieder ein Internet-Manager an Bord, der qualifiziert unterstützen kann: Amith. Das letzte Mal auf der EURODAM bestand ja der Support aus: "Sind Sie sicher, dass sie das richtig eingetippt haben? Ja? Dann bekommen Sie Ihr Geld gutgeschrieben! Inhaltlich kann ich nichts zu Ihrem Problem sagen, weil ich keine Ahnung von Computer habe.". Ich erzähle ihm von den automatischen Windows-Updates. Er ist erstaunt und will sich meinen Rechner ansehen. Aber durch die Partnerschaft von Microsoft und Holland America wird wohl der bordeigene Server genutzt, um Updates peer-to-peer auszurollen.



Very great: they had an Internet-Manager again onboard who could give support in a very qualified way: Amith. The last time on EURODAM the support was like this: "Are you sure that you entered properly? Yes? OK you get a refund of your money! I could not say anything to the contents of your problems because I had no knowledge on computers." I told him of the automatic Windows-updates. He was surprised and asked to see my computer. But due to the partnership of Microsoft and Holland America the bord own servers were used to release updates peer-to-peer.

Very cold in the Retreat. But with tea from aExploirations Café and a wool blanket it was easy to stay there all the time.



Ganz schön kalt in The Retreat. Aber mit heißem Tee aus dem Exploirations Café und einer Wolldecke lässt es sich gut aushalten.

Ich gehe mir mal das Angebot zum Mittagessen im Lido Market Place ansehen: das sieht wirklich toll aus.

Es gibt kein Royal Dutch High Tea und auch kein Indonesian Tea-Time mehr. Stattdessen englische Tea-Time auf Etagieren mit Salonmusik und wieder die asiatischen Paare, die jede Gelegenheit nutzen, um wieder allen ihre Talente zu zeigen. Sie machen es wirklich leidenschaftlich, auch wenn sonst niemand mehr auf dem Parkett Platz zum Tanzen hat. Ich konzentriere mich lieber auf diese tollen Gurken-Kresse-Sandwiches. Wo bekomme ich meine Königinnen Pastete ohne Ende her? Das war der wahre Grund noch gewesen Holland America zu buchen... Königinnen Pastete à discretion, wie man hier in der Schweiz sagt: soviel man will...



No more Royal Dutch High Tea and no more Indonesian Tea-Time anymore. Instead English Tea-Time on tier-plates with some palm court music and again the Asian couples who used eveery occasion to show their talents. They did it really with passion even noobody else hat space to dance. I took more care of the fabulous cucumber-cress-sandwiches. Where should I get my vol au vent all you can eat from? That was my true reason to book Holland America... Vol au Vent à discretion like the Swiss would say: as much as you want...

I went to the Lincoln Center Stage. The quite-signs were ignored by the Mexicans so I need to intervene. Was a quite unpleasant location at the main transit road. But it was also possible to thrill people for classical music who were normally not interested into. The 1st and 3rd show were same. Only I could not get anything to drink. During the performance there was no service available.



Ich gehe zum Lincoln Center Stage. Die Ruhe-Schilder werden von den Mexikanern gerne ignoriert, so dass ich doch mal einschreiten muss. Ist ja auch eine blöde Lage an der Hauptdurchgangsstraße. Aber so kann man auch Menschen für klassische Musik begeistern, die sich vielleicht sonst nicht dafür interessieren. Die 1. und die 3. Aufführung sind gleich. Nur zu Trinken bekomme ich nichts. Während der Aufführung wird nicht bedient.

Abends gibt es einen deutschen Gastkünstler: Andy Bünger. Es traf nicht immer meinen Musikgeschmack (ab und zu mal Oktoberfest-Bierzelt-Musik für die Amerikaner, die dabei sehr gerne geschunkelt haben und sicherlich enttäuscht gewesen wären, wenn ein deutscher Musiker so etwas nicht gespielt hätte...), aber es hat trotzdem Spaß gemacht die Show zu sehen. Insbesondere der Schlagabtausch (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes) mit dem Bord-Schlagzeuger. Da haben sich die zwei richtigen gesucht und gefunden. Da konnte man sehen, wie die beiden auf der Bühne, Blut und Wasser schwitzen. Fast schon wie bei Recycled Percussion letztes Jahr auf der EURODAM. Das hätte ich noch stundenlang weitergucken können. Später habe ich den Bordschlagzeuger gefragt, warum er hinter dem Glas sitzt. Er meint zu mir, dass sich das für die Zuhörer besser klingt. Nach sovielen Kreuzfahrten ist er der erste, der diese Glaswand hat.



In the evening they had a German guest entertainer: Andy Bünger. He did not always my taste of music (some Octoberfest-Beer-Tent-Music for the Americans who loved to sway collectively with the music and would be most disappointed if a German musician would not play such music...) but it was still a lot of fun to see the show. Especially the fight of beats with the ship's drummer. Two on a way. You could see them sweating bloor and tears on the stage. A little like Recylced Percussion last year on EURODAM. I could see this for hours.

We continued our lovely night in our "post office". We had a great team: Widi and Indra: we experienced a fantastic service (filet the fish) and Sigi got a paper rose. The dinner was that night very good. New was serving the broth seperately and added at the table to the soup vegetables.



Der Abend geht noch sehr schön in unserer "Postfiliale" weiter. Wir hatten ein Super-Team gehabt: Widi und Indra: wir werden super bedient (Fisch filetieren) und Sigi bekommt eine Papierrose. Das Essen heute Abend ist sehr gut. Neu ist die Brühe, die erst am Tisch in den Suppenteller mit der Einlage gekippt wird.

Der Abend ging dann ganz lustig zu Ende: Bei Billboard onboard. Cocktails, Mitsingen und noch mehr ressen. Damit niemand hier einen Titel zum Mitsingen verpasst, bekommt man hier auch imemr etwas zu essen. Diesen Abend sitzen wir in der 3./4. Reihe... wir haben noch nicht genügend getrunken, um in der 1. Reihe mitzumachen... Mit alkoholfreien Cocktails wird das noch ein wenig dauern. Gute Nacht.



The evening went to the end in a funny way: with Billboard onboard. Cocktails, singing along and eating more. To avoid that anyone miss a song to sing along you could get here some food. That night we stayed in the 3rd/4th row... We did not drink so much to join in the 1st row... With alcohol-free cocktails it would take a while. Good night.
