And from time to time he is always asking when we are booking Holland America again. Is there better guest care between two cruises? I wrap it up in a letter and sent it to Ruben because this is more than standard work.



Er ist einer der besten Botschafter von Holland America. Seine Bilder auf Facebook erinnern mich immer wieder daran, wieviele Orte ich noch nicht kenne. Und von Zeit zu Zeit fragt er immer nach, wann ich mal wieder Holland America buche. Gibt es eine bessere Gästebetreuung zwischen zwei Kreuzfahrten? Ich habe das mal zusammengeschrieben und Ruben einfach mal geschrieben, dass das ja wohl über die normale Arbeit rübergeht.

That was a Dutch game: Sjoelbak/Jakkolo/Dutch Shuffleboard. Ruben explained it to me. But I saw only once a person was playing. But it made a lot of noise. If this would be placed in front of my office... I would jump out of the window... But here there was not so much danger: as 1. the windows are locked and 2. even you could open them and jump out you would only land on the promenade... I feel sorry for the Senior Officers who had their offices just in front of it.



Das ist ein hollandisches Spiel: Sjoelbak/Jakkolo/Holländisches Shuffleboard. Ruben hat es mir erklärt. Aber ich habe bloß einmal jemanden da spielen sehen. Es macht allerdings ganz schön Krach. Wenn das vor meinem Büro stehen würde... ich würde aus dem Fenster springen... Aber an dieser Stelle kann nicht all zu viel passieren: 1. Die Fenster sind geschlossen und 2. Selbst wenn sie geöffnet wären: man würde beim Rausspringen auf die Promenade fallen... Mir tun irgendwie die Senioroffiziere Leid, die direkt hier angesiedelt sind.

Schade, dass kein Wasser in diesem Brunnen ist.

We went shopping as they had great bargains available.



Wir gehen Shopping, da echt interessante Angebote an Bord gibt.



So we got a big bag instead of the paper bags you normally get with HAL. There were not so many logo-shirts which I could buy. Less with 100% cotton but more more with Polyester.



Dafür gibt es sogar große Taschen statt Papiertüten, wie sonst bei HAL üblich. Viele Logo-Shirts kaufe ich nicht mehr: Leider immer weniger 100% Baumwolle und immer mehr Polyester.



Sing-A-Long with HAL... only the seats were disturbing due to the back of the chairs. But looked nice and comfy.



Sing-A-Long bei HAL... nur wirken die Sitze leider komplett störend, weil es die hohen Lehnen gibt. Sieht schick und bequem aus.

Hier auf der CARNIVAL SPIRIT hat man es besser gelöst: keine Lehnen, so dass man dann den Pianisten sehen kann, wenn keiner direkt am Klavier sitzt und das Klavier in der Mitte ist erhöht, so dass man dann ihn sehen kann, wenn welche davor sitzen.



Here on CARNIVAL SPIRIT they solved it much more better: no backs of the chair so you could see the pianist if nobody was sitting in front of him and the piano was placed in the center higher so you could see him even someone was sitting in front of him.

Und noch besser ist es bei NCL, wenn auch der Kapitän persönlich vorbeikommt, wie bei der NORWEGIAN GEM. Da hat einfach cruisecritic.com eine höhere Bedeutung.

Wir überlegen uns, ob wir ggfls. bei Santorini mit den anderen fahren. Aber wir bitten darum, dass wir wirklich spontan an dem Tag entscheiden dürfen. Da sich unsere Teilnahme nicht auf den Preis auswirkt, ist das o.k..



We considered if we should join the Santorini tour with them. But we asked if we could decide at short-notice at the same day. As this would not influence the price they allowed.







Da wir nur einen Seetag haben, findet der Mariners Brunch bereits am 2. Tag statt.



As we had only one day at sea the Mariners' Brunch was hold already at the second day.

We were allocated. Unfornately we were not allowed to sit at the aft altough other guests were sitting there already and there it was not breezy. The Captain would like to have me (and others as well) in his eye... Later they let other guests to the aft. So we sat again there where it was extremely cold and breezy. For six guests you had four pieces of bread and five pieces of butter.



Wir werden platziert. Leider dürfen wir nicht an den Heck, wo bereits andere Gäste saßen und wo es nicht zieht. Uns wird gesagt, dass der Kapitän mich (und vermutlich andere) im Auge haben möchte... Später werden aber doch die Heckplätze besetzt. So sitzen wir wieder dort, wo es besonders kalt ist und zieht. Für sechs Gäste gibt es vier Brotteile und fünf Stück Butter.

O.K.. so weit weg sitzen wir tatsächlich nicht von unseren Gastgebern. Allerdings wurden nicht mehr die Mitglieder der Mariners' Society geehrt, die die meisten Tage gesammelt haben und an Bord sind.



O.K... we did not sit so far away from our hosts. But they did not honor anymore the members of the Mariners' Society who collected the most number of nights and were onboard.









I did not like it here anymore. Some at our table were claiming Code Orange and did not think that it might help to prevent norovirus. I must hear how Princess made everything better than here on RYNDAM. On Princess I dislike that I cannot or must not sanitize my hands. But they never had a cruise before when you had norovirus onboard. Why do not they just go on Princess? Because they did not offer such a great itinerary. O. K. be calm and enjoy it! There was no Mariners' Brunch with Princess. And as they sat here they knew what they should expect. I let them suffering before I start to suffer.



Ich hatte allerdings die Lust etwas verloren: Am Tisch saßen welche, die sich über Code Orange aufregen und meinen, dass es nichts bringt und ich muss mir anhören, was Princess alles besser macht, als RYNDAM. Und da rege ich mich darüber auf, dass ich dort nirgendst meine Hände desinfizieren kann bzw. muss. Allerdings haben sie wohl noch nie eine Kreuzfahrt mitgemacht, auf dem ein Norovirus ausgebrochen ist. Warum fahren sie denn nicht einfach Princess? Weil sie nicht die Route anbieten. O.K. dann seid einfach still und genießt es. Einen Mariners' Brunch gibt es nämlich bei Princess nicht. Und da sie hier sitzen, wussten sie ja, was auf sie zukommt. Ich lasse sie einfach weiter leiden, bevor ich weiterleide.





Dieses Mal gibt es keine Diskussion: pro Mitglied gibt es wieder ein Geschenk.

Und heute gibt es Stubenküken... (oder Trachinotus (eine Art von der Stachelmakrele)). Mal gucken, wann es hier so läuft wie bei United Airlines: Hühnchen oder Pasta... Hallo Seattle - wir sind eure besten Gästen, die immer wieder kommen... haben wir nicht etwas besseres verdient?

1. Ich habe keine Lust zu diskutieren, wie man diesen Teller für 6 Personen aufteilt und 2. Ich bin zwischenzeitlich eingefroren, da ich bloß mein HeinBloed-T-Shirt für das cruisecritic.com-Meet & Greet anhabe. Ich habe mal Ruben darauf angesprochen: aber der fand die Temperatur o.k., aber der musste ja auch nicht 45 Minuten an meinem Tisch sitzen. Aber ich habe beschlossen, Kabelbinder für die nächste Kreuzfahrt einzupacken und Ruben am Platz festzubinden. Denn er ist ein echter Hans-Dampf-in-allen-Gassen und einfach überall an Bord und ziemlich sichtbar und ansprechbar, sonst hätte ich vermutlich kaum eine Chance ihn 45 Minuten an einem Platz zu halten.



1. I had not wish to discuss how to split that plate for 6 guests and 2. I was freezing as I had only my HeinBloed-T-Shirt on which I normally wear for cruisecritic.com-Meet & Greet-events. I told it Ruben but he said that the temperature was o.k. but he must not sit 45 minutes at one table. I have decided to have some cable straps with me for my next cruise and fix Ruben to a seat. He is a real Jack-in-all-Trails and visible on board and you could talk with him. That would be the only chance to have him 45 minutes at one seat.
