Warum muss es heute trocken sein und gestern in Strömen regnen?



Why does it have to be dry today and rain heavily yesterday?

Today, the On Deck for a Cause charity run is taking place. But I have already explained my reasons for not taking part.



Heute findet wieder der Wohltätigkeitslauf On Deck for a Cause statt. Aber ich habe ja meine Gründe erklärt, weswegen ich nicht teilnehme.

Nochmals einen leckeren Blaubeer-Muffin und ein Egg Benedict und Corned Hash muss sein. Und nochmals einen "ungesunden" French Toast.



Another delicious blueberry muffin, an Egg Benedict, and corned hash are a must, as is another "unhealthy" French toast.

The trip summary is in the cabin. Only now do we see the wooden block magnetically attached to the door frame to hold the door open for basic cleaning.



In der Kabine finden wir die Zusammenfassung der Reise. Und erst jetzt sehen wir den Holzklotz, der magnetisch am Türrahmen hängt, un die Tür für die Grundreinigung aufzuhalten.



Today, there is no breakfast or lunch in the main restaurant, but brunch is from 9:30 hrs to 12:30 hrs. I had asked Ross beforehand to prepare a lovely table by the window for us (the others from our Friends of Dorothy group). She kept her promise! This time, I managed to get all eight of us in the picture. It's the best of breakfast and lunch. Executive Chef Noorul happens to be standing at the exit. I want to thank the Galley again for their excellent work.



Heute gibt es im Hauptrestaurant kein Frühstück oder Mittagessen, sondern Brunch: von 09:30 Uhr bis 12:30 Uhr. Ich hatte im Vorfeld Ross gebeten, uns (die anderen von unserer Friends of Dorothy-Runde) einen schönen Tisch am Fenster herzurichten. Sie hält ihr Versprechen! Ich habe dieses Mal geschafft auch alle acht auf das Bild zu bekommen. Es ist ein Best of Frühstück und Mittagessen. Zufällig steht Executive Chef Noorul am Ausgang. Ich bedanke mich nochmals für die tolle Arbeit der Galley.

Cake me Away! Als ob wir nicht genug gegessen hätten, geht es noch nach oben ins Lido, um Kuchen zu essen. Ich nehme nochmals Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Als ich später meinen Blog schreibe, stelle ich fest, dass ich schon ein Stück hatte. Da Ricardo und Kris heute Abend andere Pläne haben, müssen wir uns schon von ihnen verabschieden.



Cake me away! As if we needed to eat more, we ate cake at the Lido. I have another Black Forest gateau. When I wrote my blog later, I realized I already had a piece. Since Ricardo and Kris have other plans this evening, we must say goodbye.

Statt Tea-Time lieber ein Test über den Navigator einen Burger beim Dive In vorzubestellen und abzuholen. Es klappt sehr gut. Ich laufe sofort los, aber mein Burger ist schneller.



Instead of tea time, I decided to try pre-ordering a burger from Dive In using the navigator and picking it up. It worked well. I set off straight away, but my burger arrived quicker.

It's time to say goodbye to Martin, who works the late shift at the Grand Dutch Café.

Da wir in den letzten Abenden immer hier unseren Cocktail getrunken haben, bedanke ich mich noch bei Joseph und Naso'i vom Tamarind.

Zufällig sehe ich auf dem Lageplan immer noch die Lincoln Center Stage.

Nick hatte mir auch Mut gemacht, dass Schritt für Schritt das Gute, das den Unterschied zwischen HAL und den anderen ausgemacht wieder eingeführt wird. So wurde wieder Platz für eine echte Bibliothek geschaffen. Das ist doch ein riesieger Unterschied gegenüber der armseligen Ecke auf der OOSTERDAM 2023.



Nick also encouraged me that, step by step, the good things that made the difference between HAL and the others would be reintroduced. So, space was made for an actual library again. That's a huge difference compared to the miserable corner on OOSTERDAM 2023.

One of the things that impressed me about HAL is the scales in the stairwells. You can check the weight of your luggage for the return flight from the airport or in advance and avoid having to repack at the airport or paying extra for excess baggage.



Einer der Punkte, die mich bei HAL begeistert hat: Die Waagen in den Treppenhäusern, damit man das Gewicht des Gepäcks für den Rückflug voam Flughafen oder vorab prüfen kann und sich das Umpacken am Flughafen oder Zusatzkosten für Übergepäck sparen kann.

Besonders freut mich die Gelegenheit ein Selfie mit Kapitän Bas van Dreumel, Hoteldirektor Iulian und Food und Beverage Manager Raul zu machen und mich für eine tolle Woche zu bedanken.

Bruno shows me the fitness center. He thinks it is relatively well-equipped for a cruise ship.

Wir gehen nochmals zur Half Moon Bar, um und zu verabschieden. Als wir hier sitzen kommt Kellermeister Ricky vorbei, der uns von der VEENDAM 2019 erkannt hat.

Als ich auf der ZAANDAM 2012 meinen Geburtstag im Pinnacle Grill gefeiert habe, wurde so leise gesungen, dass sich meine Tischnachbarin sich genötigt fühlte ihre Stimme zu erheben, um kraftvoll mein Geburtstagsständchen zu singen. Tom hatte auch seinen Geburtstag im Pinnacle Grill gefeiert, und das gleiche feststellt. Für ein anderes Geburtstagskind wird laut von dem gesamten Team angestimmt. Tom bringt seine Enttäuschung zum Ausdruck. Elena gibt mir Signal die Kamera bereit zu halten und hat sich entschuldigt, dass sie sofort zum Telefon kommen soll. Sie kommt mit ihrem Team, um Tom nachträglich zu gratulieren. Er freut sich riesig. Rnde gut, alles gut!



When I celebrated my birthday at the Pinnacle Grill on ZAANDAM 2012, the singing was so quiet that the person sitting next to me at the table felt compelled to raise her voice and sing my birthday song loudly. Tom had also celebrated his birthday at the Pinnacle Grill and noticed the same thing. The whole team sang loudly for another birthday boy. Tom expressed his disappointment. Elena signaled to me to get the camera ready, apologized, and said she should come to the phone immediately. She came with her team to congratulate Tom belatedly. He was delighted. All good, everything good!
