Seetag/Day at Sea 06 auf der/on OOSTERDAM

Und wieder habe ich Glück - und wieder erlebe ich einen wunderschönen Sonnenaufgang.



And again, I'm lucky - and again, I experience a beautiful sunrise.

There are very few children on board. That's why there's little to do in the kids' clubs. The hotel managers from NCL brought one thing with them: the box with the letters to the hotel manager. I also use them to comment on two things: 1. that there was no reply to my letter about the time zones and 2. why coffee is served at the table, but the guest has to go to the service stations again, like at Starbucks for the sugar, to get the sugar yourself. We could enter a raffle for a cruise in the Caribbean or the Mexican Riviera, but that seems like it could be more attractive. The Navigator gets on my nerves. You chat with one, and his answer comes 1:20 hours later. He said that he answered immediately and waited for my answer. The system still needs to mature.



Es sind nur sehr wenige Kinder an Bord. Deswegen gibt es in den Kinderclubs auch wenig zu tun. Eines haben ja die Hoteldirektoren, die von NCL gekommen sind, mitgebracht: die Box mit den Briefen an den Hoteldirektor. Ich nutze sie auch, um zwei Sachen anzumerken: 1. dass es keine Antwort auf mein Schreiben wegen der Zeitzonen gab und 2. warum man Kaffee am Tisch serviert, aber der Gast für den Zucker nochmals wie bei Starbucks zu den Servicestationen laufen muss, um sich selbst den Zucker zu holen. Wir könnten an einer Verlosung für eine Kreuzfahrt in der Karibik oder an der Mexikanischen Riviera teilnehmen, aber das erscheint uns doch nicht interessant. Der Navigator geht mir echt auf den Senkel. Du chattest mit einem und seine Antwort kommt dann 1:20 Stunden später. Er sagt, dass er sofort geantwort hätte und auf meine Antwort gewartet hat. Das System ist irgendwie noch nicht so richtig ausgereift.

Ich gehe hoch in den Lido Market, damit ich ein einzelnes Rührei aus einem frischen Ei bekomme. Das ist nicht so einfach, wenn schon alles vorportioniert ist. So eine Portion Congee nach dem "Walk a Mile" auf dem offenen Deck an frischer Luft bei blauem Himmel ist schon etwas feines.



I'm going to the Lido Market to get a single scrambled egg from a fresh egg, and that's more challenging when everything is already pre-portioned. After the "walk a mile" on the open deck in the fresh air under a blue sky, a portion of congee is nice.





And given the weather, there are even more selfies to be taken in the bright sunshine on the open deck.



Und bei dem Wetter entstehen noch mehr Selfies bei strahlendem Sonnenschein auf dem offenen Deck.

Mehrfach am Tag besuchen wir die Explorations Bar. Zufällig entdecken wir eine Treppe zwischen den Bücherregalen, die runter zum Fitnessstudio führt. Wir haben viel Spaß mit den anderen Jungs von der Friends of Dorothy-Runde.



We visit the Explorations Bar several times a day. We accidentally discover a staircase between the bookshelves that leads down to the gym. We have a lot of fun with the other boys from the Friends of Dorothy group.

We are pleased with Tiyo and Han's initiative. They have correctly recognized that the air that blows directly from the air conditioner on our faces disturbs us. They want to "perfect" our construction and tape off some of the openings. We meant well and showed it to their supervisor. However, he could have been more enthusiastic and asked why we didn't go the official way: I complained to the reception so that someone from the building services could come. We know the air conditioner of this type better than anyone. At Princess, we've almost been banned from our premises since the OCEAN PRINCESS 2010. They even came at night on heavy seas back then. So we made it clear again: our cabin stewards deserve a medal and should not be put against the wall and shot!



Wir freuen uns über die Initiative von Tiyo und Han. Sie haben richtig erkannt, dass uns die Luft, die direkt aus der Klimaanlage uns auf das Gesicht bläst, stört. Sie wollen unsere Konstruktion "perfektionieren" und kleben ein Teil der Öffnungen ab. Wir haben es gut gemeint und das deren Supervisor gezeigt. Der war allerdings überhaupt nicht begeistert und fragt nach, warum wir nicht den offiziellen Weg gehen: an der Rezeption reklamieren, damit jemand von der Haustechnik kommt. Wir kennen vermutlich die Klimaanlage dieser Bauart besser als jeder andere. Bei Princess haben wir schon fast Hausverbot seit der OCEAN PRINCESS 2010. Die sind sogar damals sogar nachts bei starkem Seegang gekommen. Also wir haben nochmals klargestellt: unseren Kabinenstewards verdienen einen Orden und sollten nicht an die Wand gestellt und erschossen werden!







Wir gehen zum Frühstück. Ich bekomme meine laktosefreie Milch und auch Orangensegmente. Und Bruno seinen griechischen Naturjoghurt. Alles könnte so perfekt sein, wenn ich nicht auf die blöde Idee gekommen wäre: du könntest ja mal ein Zuzahlfrühstück nehmen. Bevor es Butcher's Cut bei MSC, war immer der Pinnacle Grill bei HAL meine sichere Bank für ein gutes Steak. Das hatte sich aber dann irgendwann geändert. Spätestens als Orlando Ashford irgendwann größenwahnsinnig wurde und dann ein Tomahawk-Steak für 75 USD Zuzahlung angeboten hat. OK. Die Zeiten sind vorbei. Das gibt es zum Glück nicht mehr: weder Orlando Ashford noch das Tomahawk-Steak. Aber dieses Steak für 15 USD ist irgendwie nichts. Es entspricht nicht meinen Vorstellungen - weder geschmacklich - noch von der Konsistenz. Irgendwie definiere ich eben Englisch-rare anders. Da ich einen kleinen Magen habe, bringt es auch nichts, wenn ich ein neues Steak bekomme. Ich kann nicht mehr, aber ich muss es bezahlen. Ich werde abends also kein Zuzahlsteak in Betracht ziehen. "Versuch macht kluch", wie schon immer mein ehemaliger Schuldirektor sagte...

Wir bestellen wieder zwei Anzahlungen für die nächste Reise mit Holland America. Holland America macht einfach süchtig. Auch wenn das Niveau nicht mehr so hoch ist, wie damals beim ersten Mal auf der EURODAM 2008.



We order two deposits again for the next trip with Holland America. Holland America is simply addictive even if the level isn't as high as it was the first time on EURODAM 2008.

We'll go to the main restaurant for lunch. I'll try the calamari too. I'll try the waffles with chicken, and I can't do anything with the waffles. The chicken is delicious. Bruno takes the catch of the day.



Wir gehen zum Mittagessen in das Hauptrestaurant. Auch ich probiere die Calamari. Ich probiere die Waffeln mit Hühnchen. Mit den Waffeln kann ich nichts anfangen. Das Hühnchen ist sehr lecker. Bruno nimmt den Catch of the Day.







I'm trying out a free sensor to determine my blood sugar level. It should also survive visiting the swimming pool, sauna, and whirlpool. The problem: I don't take a smartphone with me to these places to which the sensor is connected, and unfortunately, the sensor probably didn't survive and can't be reconnected. I use the bathrobe for Club Orange guests, but it doesn't feel that friendly on the skin — nothing to "steal" and take home. I have my leg swimmers to do aqua jogging: but unfortunately, I can't move forward or backward in the light seas, so I'll give that up soon.



Ich probiere einen kostenlosen Sensor zur Bestimumung meines Blutzuckerwertes aus. Es soll auch ein Besuch im Schwimmbad, in der Sauna und im Whirlpool überleben. Das Problem: an diese Orte nehme ich kein Smartphone mit, mit dem der Sensor verbunden ist und leider hat der Sensor wohl das nicht überlebt und lässt sich nicht wieder verbinden. Ich nutze den Bademantel für die Club Orange Gäste, aber irgendwie fühlt er sich nicht so schön auf der Haut an. Nichts zum "Klauen" und mit nach Hause nehmen. Ich habe meine Beinschwimmer, um Aqua-Jogging zu machen: aber bei dem leichten Seegang komme ich leider nicht vorwärts oder rückwärts, so dass ich das bald aufgebe.









Im Dive-In hole ich mir ein paar Pommes Frites mit Käsesauce und probiere einiges vom Lido Market.

Wir gehen zum Abendessen. Zufällig sitzen wir neben zwei dänischen Teilnehmer unserer Friends of Dorothy-Runde: Flemming (und wenn ich mich nicht irre Mats). Ich muss zu meinem Entsetzen feststellen: Vanja behandelt andere Gäste genauso nett wie mich... ich habe nicht mehr ihre ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit! Was hat Flemming, was ich nicht habe??? Die Kellner Agung und Simon liefern einen erstklassigen Service.



We're going to dinner. We sit next to two Danish participants in our Friends of Dorothy group: Flemming (and, if I'm not mistaken, Mats). To my horror, I must say: Vanja treats other guests just as nicely as me... I no longer have her undivided attention! What does Flemming have that I don't have??? Waiters Agung and Simon deliver first-class service.

CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022: "Dear guests: take as many photos as you like! Tell the whole world how great it is with us on board and our shows are.". Here's the usual announcement: No photography. For me, the blog and, thus, the photos are part of it. Otherwise, the decision is straightforward: If I'm not allowed to be here, the decision in favor of Celebrity will automatically be made. Someone comes out and stops me from taking pictures. I'll stop for today: I already know the show. "Musicology" was already shown at KONINGSDAM 2016, so I have photos from the show. It's 2023, and are there still shows that aired in 2016? I'll raise the matter with the ship's command. They are amazed that anyone has time to come out during the production and only think: they are used to it, that many people take pictures. Please, no flash or film. I have a camera to take photos in the dark without being noticed, without a flash and a measuring beam. When I take pictures: I also tell the world how great the shows are. That should be a compliment to HAL. I don't think Celebrity needs my photos to copy stuff for their next show.



CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022: "Liebe Gäste: machen Sie soviele Fotos, wie Sie mögen! Erzählen Sie der ganzen Welt, wie toll es bei uns an Bord ist und wie großartig unsere Shows sind.". Hier kommt die übliche Ansage: Fotografieren verboten. Für mich gehört der Blog und damit die Fotos dazu. Sonst ist die Entscheidung sehr einfach: Wenn ich nicht hier nicht darf, dann fällt automatisch die Entscheidung zugunsten von Celebrity. Es kommt tatsächlich jemand raus, der mich beim Fotografieren stoppt. Für heute höre ich auf: die Show kenne ich schon. "Musicology" lief bereits auf der KONINGSDAM 2016. Daher habe ich bereits Bilder von der Show. Wir haben 2023: und es laufen immer noch Shows, die 2016 bereits gezeigt wurden? Ich spreche den Vorgang mit der Schiffsleitung an. Sie sind verwundert, dass überhaupt jemand Zeit hat, während der Produktion rauszukommen und meinen nur: das sind die doch gewohnt, dass viele Bilder machen. Nur bitte nicht mit Blitz oder Filmen. Ich habe ja extra die Kamera, damit ich ohne störenden Blitz und ohne Meßstrahl im Dunkeln unbemerkt fotografieren kann. Wenn ich Bilder mache: dann erzähle ich ja auch der ganzen Welt, wie toll die Shows sind. Das sollte ein Kompliment für HAL sein. Ich denke nicht, dass Celebrity meine Bilder braucht, um Sachen für ihre nächste Show zu kopieren.
