Seetag/Day at Sea 2.2 auf der/on ZAANDAM

Ein "Running Gag" (wiederkehrender Spaß) wird die Schlüsselkarte. Das System muss tatsächlich mal dringend erneuert werden. Entweder geht die Tür nicht mehr, oder der Safe. Auf jeden Fall konnte im Moment keine neue Dauerkarte erstellt werden, weil der Drucker im Moment nicht geht.



A running gag became the key card. Something which they need to replace soon. Sometimes the door did not work anymore or the safe. Currently no full function card could be released because of a malfunction of the printer.

What was very nice: they had a true night service at the front desk and not just guard or just a phone. Every request (but cash transactions) could be done in the night as well.



Was sehr schön ist: es gibt bei einen echten Nachtdienst an der Rezeption und nicht nur einen Wachmann oder gar ein Telefon. Alle Anliegen (bis auf Bartransaktionen) können auch nachts erledigt werden.

Die Orgel im Atrium: noch nie zuvor auf einem anderen Schiff gesehen. Und an einem Tag war sie auch in Betrieb.

Das Schiff ist etwas besonderes. Defintiv.

Und Bruno hatte Glück, dass dann der Drucker wieder funktionierte und er wieder eine vollwertige Schlüsselkarte bekam. Ich wollte allerdings nicht so weit gehen, mir ein hübscheres Motiv auszuwählen: Mir taten sie eh schon leid, weil sie den ganzen Abend zuvor schon von mehreren Gästen die Schlüsselkarten ersetzten mussten... Ist das auch ein Reisemangel, wenn ich jetzt keine schöne blaue Karte mehr habe, sondern eine bräunliche?



And Bruno was lucky that the printer started to work again and he got a full function card. I did not want to fight for a nicer background picture: I felt sorry for them as they had trouble with many guests and their key cards all night long and need new ones... Would this be a lack if you have no more a nice blue card but a brown one?

For me it was perfect: a Chinese-speaking group from Canada was onboard. So I did not need to translate all the daily programme and could send my parents to see this board.



Für mich perfekt: eine chinesischsprachige Gruppe aus Kanada ist an Bord. So muss ich nicht mühsam das Bordprogramm übersetzen und kann meine Eltern bequem zu der Tafel schicken.

An Bord gibt es auch Waschmöglichkeiten in mehreren Waschsalons.



On board you have multiple opportunities for laundry in self-service laundrettes.





You should have enough quarters (4 for one washload) with you.



Man sollte genügend "Quarters" (4 x 25 US-Cent-Stücke) mitführen.

Das Waschmittel ist im Preis inbegriffen.



Detergent is included in this price.

We preferred to have the lazy solution: you just book at the front desk an UNLIMITED LAUNDRY and UNLIMTED PRESSING-package (for the lenght of our cruise it was about 150 USD!!!)



Wir ziehen jedoch die bequeme Lösung vor: an der Rezeption bucht man einfach UNLIMITED LAUNDRY und UNLIMITED PRESSING (Unbegrenzt waschen und bügeln lassen für die Dauer unserer Reise ca. 150 USD!!!).

Einfach die Wäsche in den Sack reinstopfen und rechts unten UNLIMITED LAUNDRY und UNLIMITED PRESSING ankreuzen.



Just put all your laundry into the bag and tick right to the bottom UNLIMITED LAUNDRY and UNLIMITED PRESSING.

In the morning hours you find already your "newspaper" for breakfast in the Lido.



Morgens im Lido erwartet einen bereits die "Zeitung" zum Frühstück.

Da Seetag ist, öffnet es erst um 06.00 Uhr für ein sog. Continental Breakfast (kalte Sachen, die man ohne Messer und Gabel essen kann.). Das volle Programm gibt es ab 07.00 Uhr.



As it was Day at Sea it opened at 06.00 hrs for a Continental Breakfast. Full service starts at 07.00 hrs.









Due to Code Orange you cannot just grab one: all were blocked by trays. With HAL you normally have the first 48 hours after embarkation that you do not help yourself. This might avoid spreading out Norovirus through the Lido-Restaurant. Many dislike it but I like it because I can feel much more safer than with other lines.



Wegen Code Orange kam man noch nicht dran: es wurde alles durch Tabletts gesperrt. Bei HAL ist es üblich, dass 48 Stunden nach Einschiffung man sich nicht selbst bedient. Das verhindert, dass sichergestellt wird, dass sich ggfls. der Norovirus über das Lido-Restaurant nicht unmittelbar ausbreiten kann. Viele nervt es, aber ich finde es gut und fühle mich daher etwas sicherer als bei anderen Gesellschaften.

Trotzdem war schon jemand vor 06.00 Uhr da und hat zumindest schon Getränke ausgeschenkt. In meinem Fall einen Eistee.

Outside at the pool area you find a burger-grill-station with a small buffet.



Draußen am Pool-Bereich gibt es noch eine Burger-Grill-Station mit einem kleinen Büffet.

Übrigens für das Canaletto sollte man zeitig buchen. Bis dass wir uns entschieden haben, wurde es schon ziemlich eng.



You should book very early for Canaletto. Until we decided when we should go it became quite narrow to get a time slot.
