Tag/Day 5.7 auf der/on ZAANDAM in Laem Chabang, Thailand (Siem Reap, Kambodscha/Cambodia)

Nachmittags um 15.00 Uhr ging es weiter. Es war nicht mehr so heiß und wir konnten uns auch einen Moment ausruhen. Meine Eltern mochten aber trotzdem nicht mehr mit. Denen war es zu viel. Willkommen in Angkor Wat - UNESCO Welterbe.



We continued at 15.00 hrs. It was not so hot anymore and we had a chance for a small nap. But my parents did not like to re-join us. It was too much for them. Welcome to Angkor Wat - UNESCO World Heritage.

Which effort they spent to erect this city?



Welcher Aufwand wurde betrieben, um diese Stadt entstehen lassen?











We were very satisfied with our tour guide Chhung Pisith. He was able to transfer whisdom to me who is a real philistine. 



Mit unserem Führer Chhung Pisith waren wir sehr zufrieden. Sogar als Kulturbanause konnte ich etwas mitnehmen.

Die linke Hälfte der Brücke wurde im Original-Zustand belassen. Rechts alles bereits restauriert.

You need one day to see all details of one single building. But that we can do by watching the pictures.



Eigentlich braucht man schon Bauwerk einen Tag, um die ganzen Details zu erfassen. Aber das können wir am Foto nachholen.

Mit Interesse verfolgen wir, was diese Nonne macht.



We followed what the nun offered with big interest.

Against donation you get a red tape and a bless.



Gegen Spende gibt es ein rotes Bändchen und einen Segen.

Erst wenn das Band von selbst sich vom Körper löst, wirkt der Segen nicht mehr (vier Wochen danach ist das Bändchen immer noch am Arm).



When the tape will loose itself from the body her bless will expire (about four weeks it is still at our arms)

For that we liked to donate.



Dafür haben wir gerne gespendet.

Schon alleine für das Lächeln der Nonnen.

Unfortunately the water-level was very low to see the complete building mirrored. In the morning many visitor came to see the sunrise. And the next day the sunrise should be exactly behind he center tower. But we cannot make it to see this too.



Leider war der Wasserstand sehr niedrig, damit sich das Gesamtbauwerk spiegeln konnte. Morgens zu Sonnenaufgang kommen sehr viele vorbei. Und am nächsten Tag würde die Sonne genau hinter dem Mittelturm aufgehen. Aber das werden wir nicht mehr schaffen, das uns anzusehen.



With interest we read that the Germans were active here too.



Mit Interesse lesen wir, dass auch hier die Deutschen aktiv sind.

Es gab einen Pavillon der FH Köln, die die Restaurierung von Angkor Wat betreut.



There was also Info-Center of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences who supported the renovation of Angkor Wat.





So we were lucky that we could read some important aspects of the renovation in German.



So haben wir Glück, dass wir wichtige Aspekte der Restaurierung in Deutsch lesen können.

I always thought that you can buy a Mercedes-Star on the night market but this was a true Mercedes-Benz made in Korea.
