Seetag/Day at Sea 13.4 auf der/on ZAANDAM

Der Eindruck ist richtig: Essen ist bei Holland America ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Kreuzfahrt. Deswegen sind wir nach einer weiteren Pause schon beim Abendessen. Ich bearbeite Bilder und stelle sie bei Facebook ein oder blogge, während Bruno meistens liest oder im Fitness-Studio ist. Die Sonnenblumen passen zu Vincent van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh passt zu Holland. Und Holland passt zu Holland America Line...



The impression was right: Food experience is a major part of an Holland America cruise. So that was why we had dinner after another break. I mostly edit pictures and upload them on Facebook while Bruno mostly reads or see the gym. The sun flowers fit to Vincent van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh fits to Holland. And Holland fits to Holland America Line...

While we were waiting for Guenther and BJ we met Debrah and her friends.



Während wir auf Guenther und BJ warten, begegnen wir Debrah und ihre Freundinnen.

Da fühlen wir uns natürlich wie James Bond 007 und müssen uns mit den Bond-Girls fotografieren lassen.



So we felt like James Bond 007 and need to have picture with the Bond-Girls.

And there was BJ and his 4th tuxedo...



Und da kommt BJ und der 4. Smoking...

Es sollte ja noch eine Abstimmung stattfinden, welcher der beste war... Daher nochmals der 3. Smoking.



I promised to arrange a voting which one was the best... So again the 3rd tuxedo.

The 2nd tuxedo (incl. gimmicks like collar and linen).



Der 2. Smoking (inkl. Gimmicks wie Kragen und Innenfutter).

Und der allererste Smoking, der für mich der beste war. Ich bin vermutlich zu konservativ.



And the very first tuxedo which was the best for me. But I guess that I might be too conservative.





They had Surf and Turf. So the choice was very easy.



Es gibt Surf and Turf. Da fällt die Auswahl nicht schwer.

Das kann aber Holland America normalerweise besser... Erinnert eher an Filme, wie man in einem US-Gefängnis das Essen serviert... so hochgestapelt... Überhaupt heute Abend lief alles nicht besonders optimal.



Normally Holland America can do it better... Reminded me to movies like they serve food in US jails... so highstacked... By the way tonight nothing went very smooth.













BJ could not have it spicy enough.



BJ konnte es mal wieder nicht scharf genug sein.

Nun der Hummer wurde heute nicht aus der Schale entfernt. Insgesamt hat es extrem lange gedauert, weil man mehr Plätze angeboten hat, als Kellner zur Verfügung standen. Deswegen gibt es ja bei NCL immer die umgekehrten Beschwerden: dass leere Tische vorhanden sind und man warten muss, aber das ist genau richtig: man passt die Kapazität im Restaurant an den vorhandenen Kellnern an.



Nobody came to take off the shell from the lobster. In total everything took extremely long because they offered more seats than waiters were available. So with NCL you had normally the opposite claim that you need to wait although vacant tables were available but this is absulutely correct: you adjust the capacity of the restaurant depending to the number of waiters you have.







Dann wiederum wurde der Service unterbrochen für eine Showeinlage, an die ich mich überhaupt nicht erinnern kann. Oder war es nur die Erinnerung, dass wir die Kellner (und die Trinkgelder) nicht vergessen mögen.



Then the service were suspended for a show act which I could not remember. Or it was just a reminder that we should not forget the waiters (and their tips).

How bad the service was that night you could see on this picture: the ice cream was already melting.



Wie schlecht der Service heute Abend war, sieht man an diesem Bild: das Eis schmolz bereits.

Es wurde vergessen eine Gabel mit aufzulegen.



They forgot to offer a fork.

So you made the success that everything slided through the air and I was full of chocolate sauce. I went to change my clothes. While I was away the waiter came to entertain us with playing card tricks as apology. But you could feel that none around had any kind of understanding anymore as nothing went. When we spoke later with a Maître what was not right that night we got the answer that they were surprised that all guests came at the same time because all guests wanted to go ashore the next day. What kind of explenation was that? Guests who want to go ashore the next day... The most normal thing in the world...



Mit dem Erfolg, dass alles durch die Luft rutschte und ich war voll mit Schokoladensauce. Ich ging mich umziehen. In der Zeit kam der Kellner und unterhielt uns zum Trost mit Kartentricks. Da merkte man, dass im Umfeld niemand mehr dafür Verständnis hatte, weil nun gar nichts mehr lief. Als wir einen Maître darauf am Abend ansprachen, was nicht in Ordnung war, hieß es: sie waren überrascht, dass alle Gäste auf einmal kamen, weil morgen ja Landgang sei und alle von Bord wollen. Was war denn das für eine Begründung? Gäste, die am nächsten Tag an Land wollen... Das normalste auf der Welt...
