Tag/Day 0.2 Pre-Cruise vor der/before ZAANDAM in Singapur/Singapore

Die Einreise ging ziemlich schnell. Keine zehn Minuten, obwohl noch mehr Maschinen gelandet waren. Auch stand unser Gepäck bereits an der Gepäckausgabe bereit. So konnten wir direkt zum Ground Transportation Desk. Hier kann für Festpreise Taxis buchen. 60 SGD (2012) für einen Minibus zu jedem Hotel in der Stadt.



The immigration went quite quickly. Not longer than ten minutes although flew flights arrived. Our bags were just right there at the baggage claim carousel. So we could move directly to the Ground Transportation Desk. Here you can get for a fixed price taxis. 60 SGD (2012) for a minibus to all hotels in the city.

You get a number and you should wait a moment until the driver comes and reports to you. With our jackets we attracted the attention when it was 90F outside.



Man bekommt eine Nummer und soll einen Moment warten, bis dass sich der Fahrer meldet. Wir fallen bei 32°C bei tropischen Temperaturen mit unseren Jacken doch auf.

Dabei reisen wir noch verhältnismäßig leicht, da wir erfahren haben, dass es bei Holland America Line für 7,00 USD/Nacht (2012) ein LAUNDRY UNLITED-Angebot besteht, das wie ein Soda-Pass bei anderen Gesellschaften funktioniert.



But we were travelling light as we learned from Holland America Line that they offer LAUNDRY UNLIMITED for only 7.00 USD/night (2012) and it works like a soda pass with other lines.

Our bags made it barely into this car.



Unser Gepäck geht mal gerade mich Ach und Krach rein.

Drinnen haben wir dann ausreichend Platz.



But inside we had plenty of room.

Our driver Harry Tan Teck Hai was very nice and explained everything to us on the way to our hotel. So we accepted his offer to get us from our hotel to the cruise terminal.



Unser Fahrer Harry Tan Teck Hai ist sehr nett und erklärt uns unterwegs schon alles. Daher nehmen wir gerne sein Angebot wahr, dass wir ihn für Transfer vom Hotel zum Schiff buchen.

Wir haben das Inter-Continental Singapore gebucht. Durch meine langjährige Ambassador Club-Mitgliedschaft (kostet 150,00 USD jährlich) bekomme ich einen Wochenend-Gutschein für eine Nacht. In Athen hatte man uns beigebracht, dass es sich oft lohnt eine Club-Zimmer zu buchen, weil Frühstück und quasi Kaffee und Kuchen, sowie während der Cocktail-Stunde auch schon ein kleines Abendessen inbegriffen ist. So kommen wir auch rechtzeitig zur Cocktail-Stunde an und können uns hier in der Lounge tagsüber aufenthalten und alle Softdrinks (während der Cocktail-Stunde sogar Singapore Sling) kostenlos genießen.



We booked the Inter-Continental Singapore. As I am a long-term Ambassador-member (150.00 USD per year) I got a weekend-voucher for one night. In Athens they told us to theck the Club Room offer because breakfast, tea-time and cocktail-hour incl. dinner snacks are included. So we arrived at the right time for cocktails and we could stay here all day long while all soft drinks (during the cocktail time incl. Singapore Sling) are complimentary.

After the breakfast on my flight I was quite happy to use their offer.

Ich nehme jedoch lieber noch ein paar Leckerlis.



But I prefer to have some of the sweat treats.

In unserem Zimmer wartet das auf uns.



In our room this was waiting for us.

It could become quite nice: one mattress. But they arranged two single blankets for us.



Die zwei Nächte können noch heiter werden: eine Matratze. Wenigstens haben sie uns schon zwei Einzeldecken bezogen.

Und wieder genauso viel Post, wie auf der Kreuzfahrt.



And again as many correspondence like on a cruise.

Our bags arrived.



Unser Gepäck ist auch schon da.

Nur japanische Toiletten haben sie leider nicht.



But they had no Japanese toilets.

But anything else was available especially those things I expected to have in the Hilton in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Their equipment was just the opposite.



Dafür ist alles da - vor allem das, was ich zuletzt im Hilton in Addis Abeba erwartet hätte. Da war die Ausstattung das genaue Gegenteil.

Und da wir sehr nahe am Äquator sind: es geht auch sehr schnell, bis dass es Nacht wird.



As we are very close to the equator: it turned quickly to night.

As we should adjust quickly to the right time zone we wanted to go out to have real dinner.



Damit in die richtige Zeitzone uns schnell eingewöhnen, wollen wir nochmals kurz rausgehen und richtig zu Abend essen.

Dagegen sind ja die Strelizien auf Madeira und Oahu Zwerge...



Compared to the dragon flowers on Madeira or Oahu their were dwarfs...

The good: The hotel has a direct access to the shopping center.



Das Gute: Das Hotel hat einen direkten Zugang zu einem Shopping Center.

Aber auch noch so im historischen Teil des Gebäudes einen klassische Hofzufahrt.



But also in the historic part of the building a classical court.

A very nice location with many restaurants with "normal" prices.



Wirklich schöne Lage mit vielen Restaurants rund herum zu "normalen" Preisen.

Und wirklich viele schöne Geschäfte.



And very nice stores.

But I my attention was attracted to this. As our cruise does not end in Kobe we should have one meal like in Japan.



Das jedoch zieht mich magisch an. Wenn unsere Kreuzfahrt schon nicht Kobe endet, sollten wir zumindest einmal wie in Japan essen.

Ich freue mich über die Preise: Ein Menü kostet gerade mal 18,00 SGD (= 11,00 EUR) zzgl. Steuern.



I was happy on the prices: A full menu was just 18.00 SGD (= 15.00 USD) plus tax.

And they had my Green Iced Tea.



Es gibt sogar für mich grünen Iced Tea.

Bruno nimmt Sushi als Vorspeise.

And I had the shrimps Lufthansa had not for me.



Und ich die Garnelen, die Lufthansa für mich nicht hatte.

Und natürlich Nudeln mit Chicken Terriyaki. Lecker.



And of course some Ramen-Noodles with some Chicken Terriyaki. Yummy.

Just one block away there is Bugis Street located.



Die Bugis Street liegt nur einen Block entfernt.

Hier kommen wir in die Welt der Billig-Schnäppchen aus ganz Asien.

Just next a question of perfect or imperfect architecture.



Direkt daneben wiederum eine Frage gelungener oder misslungener Architektur.

Und daneben ein Laden mit Trockenfleisch... Meine Eltern wären begeistert. Aber sie wollten nicht mehr raus.



And next a store with meat jerky... My parents would love it. But they did not want to go out.

So I bought myself some pineapple-pastries just in case I am hungry in the night due to time difference...



Und ich gönne mir ein Ananas-Leckerlis, falls ich nachts wegen der Zeitverschiebung Hunger bekomme...
