Die Cabanas wurden gar nicht angeboten. Und zum Sky Deck kommt man auch nicht.





Mittlerweile weiss das Team vom Explorations Café, wie sie mich glücklich machen: Cappuccino freddo, laktosefrei, mit Sahne: einfach lecker und dazu ein bisschen Gebäck.

BRITANNIA 2016: die Reise auf der ich meinen 50. Geburtstag verbracht hatte. Mit schrecklichen Erinnerungen: Congee auf indisch. Mein Familientreffen konnte nicht stattfinden, weil das Attentat in Brüssel war und das Schiff nach Le Havre umgeleitet wurde. Und irgendwie eine ganz schreckliche Tea-Time, die etwas besonderes hätte sein sollen.



BRITANNIA 2016: the journey on which I spent my 50th birthday with terrible memories: Congee Indian style. My family reunion couldn't occur because the attack was in Brussels, Belgium, and the ship was diverted to Le Havre, France. And somehow a terrible tea time that should have been something special.

At the reception, I am told: "You already know the way!" - I take her word for it: I grab the menus from the waiter and lead myself to the table. I'm so cold. It feels like a cold: I need chicken broth, and I can get it.



Mir wird am Empfang gesagt: "Sie kennen ja schon den Weg!" - Ich nehme sie bei Wort: ich nehme dem Kellner die Speisekarten ab und führe mich selbst zum Tisch. Mir ist es so kalt. Es fühlt sich nach Erkältung an: Ich brauche unbedingt eine Hühnerbrühe und ich bekomme sie auch.

Sie wollen uns tatsächlich loswerden und schicken die Gepäckanhänger. Als Club Orange Mitglied bekommt man grüne Gepäckhänger - warum nicht orange??? Ich habe kein Fieber, und mein Temperaturempfinden ist nicht gestört. Da ja immer abwechselnd heiße und kalte Luft ungemischt in das Zimmer geblasen wird, messen wir mal mit dem Thermometer im anderen Modus nach: die Temperatur schwankt also zwischen 20°C und 24°C, damit wir im Durchschnitt 22°C Kabinentemperatur haben.



They actually want to get rid of us and send the luggage tags. As a Club Orange member, you get green luggage tags - why not orange??? I don't have a fever, and my temperature sensitivity is not disturbed. Since hot and cold air is always alternately blown into the room unmixed, we measure it with the thermometer in the other mode: the temperature fluctuates between 20°C (68°F) and 24°C (75°F), so we have an average cabin temperature of 22°C (72°F).

Trinidad is waiting for us in front of the ship. The tourist information in Cartagena gave us the contact. Since Larry and Steven are accompanying us, the tour will be in English. She first explains something about Cartagena's emergence of Cartagena and its importance as a naval dockyard, and the connections between Carthage and Cartagena.



Vor dem Schiff werden wir von Trinidad erwartet. Die Touristeninformation in Cartagena hat uns den Kontakt vermittelt. Da uns Larry und Steven begleiten, findet die Tour in Englisch statt. Sie erläutert uns zunächst etwas über die Entstehung von Cartagena und die Bedeutung als Marinewerftstützpunkt, sowie über die Zusammenhänge von Karthago und Cartagena.

The Marines are moving throughout the city today: as participants in a demanding run that leads through all the elevations of Cartagena and as traffic controllers.



In der gesamten Stadt sind heute die Marinesoldaten unterwegs: als Teilnehmer eines anspruchsvollen Laufes, der über alle Erhebungen von Cartagena führt und als Verkehrslenker.

Das erste Ziel ist das Marinemuseum, in dem wir mit dem U-Boot-Bau vertraut gemacht werden, der hier eine Bedeutung hat.



The first destination is the Naval Museum, where we will get acquainted with the submarine construction that has meaning here.

The ETA actually stands as an underground organization for the independence of the Basque country. So we are surprised that there is a memorial for the ETA victims here in Murcia, but Trinidad explains that the terror was not limited to the Basque Country. The kidnapping victims were humiliated, as represented by the sculpture. Of course, it's inappropriate that I'm taking my selfies right next to the statue. But unfortunately, it's a lot of fun that a few American fellow travelers get upset that the sculpture is naked here and that I'm still taking selfies here.



Die ETA steht eigentlich als Untergrundorganisation für die Unabhängigkeit des Baskenlands. So sind wir schon verwundert, dass hier in Murcia ein Denkmal für die ETA-Opfer gibt, aber Trinidad erläutert, dass der Terror sich nicht nur auf das Baskenland beschränkte. Die Entführungsopfer wurden so gedemütigt, wie durch die Skulptur dargestellt. Natürlich ist das unpassend, dass ich mich direkt neben der Skulptur die Selfies mache. Aber es macht leider sehr viel Spaß, dass sich ein paar amerikanische Mitreisende aufregen, dass hier die Skulptur nackt ist und ich auch noch hier Selfies mache.

Wir laufen durch die Straßen von Cartagena und bekommen vieles von Trinidad erklärt.

Trinidad offers us that we can go to the Roman theater, but she says that most of it can also be explained well from outside without us paying the entrance fee. She explains everything to us from behind in a place where maybe eight other tourists have walked through how the theater was accidentally discovered during demolition work. She shows us what it used to look like here using old photos that serve as a property boundary. She describes how this has changed the image of Cartagena as a tourist attraction.



Trinidad bietet uns an, dass wir ins römische Theater gehen können, aber sie sagt, dass das meiste auch sehr gut von draußen erklären kann, ohne dass wir den Eintritt zahlen. Sie erklärt uns an einem Ort, in dem noch vielleicht acht weitere Touristen durchgelaufen sind von hinten alles: wie das Theater zufällig bei Abrissarbeiten entdeckt wurde. Sie zeigt uns anhand von alten Fotos, die als Grundstücksbegrenzung dienen, wie es hier zuvor aussah. Sie beschreibt wie sich dadurch das Image von Cartagena zur Touristenattraktion geändert hat.

Wir werden zu einem Laden geführt, in dem lokale Spezialitäten und Souvenirs angeboten wird: Submarine Shop. Sie erklärt uns, dass hier keine Massenware aus Fernost angeboten werden.

Wir laufen durch die Calle Major und sie erzählt uns kleine Geschichten hinter den Häusern. Ich muss natürlich bei Banco Sabadell Geld abheben. Ich liebe deren Flashmob mit Beethovens Neunte "Ode an die Freude". Unterwegs werde ich "belästigt" durch die Heuschrecke - aber nicht durch Bruce, den wir zufällig mit seiner Gruppe treffen.



We walk through Calle Major, and she tells us little stories behind the houses. Of course, I have to withdraw money from Banco Sabadell. I love their flash mob with Beethoven's Ninth "Ode to the Joy". On the way, I'm "harassed" by the grasshopper - but not by Bruce, who we happen to meet with his group.

We take a little break at Las Termas del Pincho and enjoy some local specialties.

Dann geht es weiter und sie erläutert uns die weiteren archäologischen Funde der Stadt. Komisch, dass man in dem Waschbecken nicht schwimmen darf.

Trinidad gives us a choice: walk or take the elevator. We decide to take the elevator. Tour groups have priority. And since Trinidad is an official tourist guide, we can go directly - even if only four people are in the group. The ride allows us a look into the former bullring.

Und da Trinidad offizielle Fremdenführerin ist, können wir direkt fahren - auch wenn wir nur vier Personen in der Gruppe sind. Die Fahrt erlaubt uns einen Blick in die ehemalige Stierkampfarena.

I associate Holland America with my first stay at the tip of the bow. First time on WESTERDAM 2010, to experience the entrance to the Norwegian fjords up close. There was even a buffet set up back then. The lecturer explained everything. I only knew that from Holland America.



Mit Holland America verbinde ich meinen ersten Aufenthalt an der Bugspitze. Erstmalig auf der WESTERDAM 2010, damit wir die Einfahrt in die norwegischen Fjorde hautnah erleben konnten. Es wurde damals sogar ein Büffet aufgebaut. Der Lektor hat alles erläutert. Das kannte ich nur von Holland America.













Wieder erlebt auf der VEENDAM 2019, als wir St. John's in Neufundland verlassen haben. Leider ohne Erläuterungen.



We were experienced again on VEENDAM 2019 as we left St. John's in Newfoundland, Canada, unfortunately, without explanations.















Was wir bei Holland America verloren haben, haben wir auf der CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 wiedergefunden. Abwechselnd wurden die Gäste zu einer Art Set-Sail Party auf dem Bug eingeladen. Wir waren in Messina dran. Sehr schade, dass das hier an Bord nicht gemacht wurde.



What we lost at Holland America, we found again on CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022. The guests were alternately invited to a set-sail party on the bow. It was our turn in Messina. It is a pity that this was not done here on board.







Das Essen für die Club Orange Gäste kommt mir bekannt vor. Das peruanische Hühnchen gab es bereits vor einer Woche (Tag 6).



The food for the Club Orange guests sounds familiar to me. The Peruvian chicken was already a week ago (Day 6).

We're going to meet up with Gil and Martin for a drink. This time I don't have to mess with the super hot pepperoni. Another day at sea, and we are at the end of the journey.



Wir treffen uns noch kurz mit Gil und Martin auf einen Drink. Dieses Mal muss ich nicht mit den superscharfen Pepperonis herumschlagen. Noch ein Seetag und wir am Ende der Reise.
